Physical ways to improve your mental vitality by Bjorn Fierens

Workshop description 'Circus - a safe (r) space for danger'

Content & format

One way or the other, we all encounter stressors in our daily life. There are many strategies to face stressors, some of them you might be doing already such as yoga, meditation, psychology, which are all great and necessary tools. However, in Bjorn's belief we need more controlled and manipulated stressfull situations to apply all the techniques you have learned so far:

"Breathing is literally life. It’s the first thing we do when we’re born, and it’s the last thing we’ll do before leaving this planet. But perhaps we underestimate what breathing can truly bring about (both physically and mentally)."

During the workshop several breathing techniques will be explored that have the potential to empower our day, our mental state. Techniques that will make us more aware of ourselves and our environment (in calm and stressful situations) and that can be used in many life situations. Participants will be invited to experiment with "interaction" exercises to discover how we behave in different situations. Fun exercises that allow to quickly explore different dynamics in a group (or in an individual). Last but not least there will be exercises aiming for building trust and creating a bigger understanding of ourselves and of others.
